Noname Security, leader in API security, just announced its collaboration with IBM to offer customers improved protections against vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and design flaws. The new Noname Advanced API Security for IBM allows customers to combine Noname Security’s API security solution with IBM DataPower’s enterprise security capabilities to enhance protections for IBM API Connect.
As APIs experience explosive growth, enterprises’ attack vectors expand exponentially, creating an ever-growing threat of major data breaches. If APIs are not properly secured or managed, they can potentially expose companies to security vulnerabilities, offering malicious actors access to critical cloud resources and data. In order to secure APIs against data breaches and unauthorized access, enterprises need to proactively protect their data, infrastructure, and workloads across the hybrid cloud.
Customers can leverage Noname Security technology with IBM DataPower and IBM API Connect to benefit from advanced API management capabilities and automatic discovery of managed and unmanaged APIs, to gain valuable insights into API behavior and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
“Our enterprise customers require the best security when using APIs across their organization,” says Eileen Lowry, Vice President of IBM Automation – Integration at IBM. “By collaborating with Noname Security, we intend to add an additional layer of security to our solutions and will continue to help protect IBM API Connect customers from potential cyber threats. We intend to bring an innovative provider of intelligent API security solutions to IBM API Connect and IBM DataPower.”
IBM API Connect is a highly secure API management offering that helps enterprises create, manage, secure, socialize, and monetize APIs to enable digital transformation across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The IBM DataPower enterprise gateway allows IBM API Connect to secure access to data and business applications both on-premises and across clouds. The addition of the Noname API Security Platform to the mix gives customers access to crucial API security capabilities, including discovery, posture management, security testing, and runtime protection.
“APIs have continued to be a threat for organizations when not properly managed or secured,” says Shay Levi, Co-Founder and CTO at Noname Security. “By collaborating with IBM, we will bring our best-in-class API security solution to IBM customers to further protect them against cyber-attacks. We’re excited to work closely with IBM to help ensure their customers are more robustly protected against growing API security threats.”
Through this collaboration, enterprises can add layers of security in their response with AI-powered posture management, behavioral threat detection, and API discovery, which also allows customers to:
- Discover and create an accurate and complete inventory of APIs in their estate through data classification and context-aware analysis
- Assess APIs for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and alignment with best practices, and suggest steps for remediation
- Analyze API traffic for abnormal behavior in real-time, and then block potentially malicious activity.
