One of the pioneering companies behind the “DevOps” movement, Puppet’s solution controls and manages a good portion of the world’s infrastructure. As businesses adopted virtualisation, the cloud and containers, the traditional, manual way of building and managing individual systems could not scale.
Puppet developed one of the world’s most widely used “infrastructure as a code” tools as an answer to this problem, giving technical teams the ability to describe, in text format, how they wanted their potentially thousands of machines to look, with Puppet then automatically changing, building, installing or patching where necessary to make the description reality. This allowed IT teams to ensure consistency across environments, gain exact insight into the state of their systems and make wholesale changes in a controlled and audit compliant way.
Puppet is now being used as a de facto “language” of IT, allowing teams from different areas to share work, collaborate on changes and adopt new technology using a consistent tool from servers to networks to containers. Puppet Enterprise is designed to allow companies to automate configuration management and infrastructure, cut costs and help organisations better handle infrastructure management at scale.
Amazic started working with Puppet in 2010 when there was no team in Europe, no commercial product and the CEO was still running training courses. Over that time Amazic has helped Puppet sell nearly $10m worth of enterprise software, and trained over 2000 people. We have been the global partner of the year a number of times for Puppet.
Now, we enjoy a trusted relationship with a number of the team at Puppet and have moved into a more traditional distributor role as the company has scaled. We see Puppet as a prime example of what Amazic aims to do as a business and how our clients transition through successful growth.
